2015 Program of Work
The Southwest Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce will advance the economic, educational and cultural growth of Berkeley Lake, Norcross and Peachtree Corners to enhance the quality of living in our communities and to foster continuous improvements of the tri-city area as the place to live, work and enjoy a sustained healthy quality of life.
Support for Existing BusinessThe Southwest Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce recognizes that up to 70% of new jobs in our community each year are generated by the growth of our existing businesses. Therefore, the Chamber will provide training, seminars and conferences on a variety of business-related topics of interest in order to support existing business success and growth in the tri-city area.
- Business Incubator – The Chamber will work with local cities, Gwinnett Entrepreneur and Partnership Gwinnett to develop a business plan to establish a local full service incubator in Southwest Gwinnett County.
- Business Survey - The Chamber will survey existing businesses annually in Southwest Gwinnett County and publish the results to anticipate workforce requirements and future expansion needs.
Economic DevelopmentThe Southwest Gwinnett Chamber will focus on helping new businesses relocate to the tri-cities area. We will also work with the leadership in Berkeley Lake, Norcross and Peachtree Corners to identify existing commercial properties that have outlived their usefulness and then collaborate on redevelopment projects.
- Economic Opportunity Zone – The Chamber will collaborate with local government agencies to establish a second Opportunity Zone to encourage new economic development in Southwest Gwinnett County area.
- Business Plan Competition - The Chamber will complete the planning and then implement the business plan competition that was created last year. The implementation will include gathering partner-sponsors and partners and establishing a site for the competition.
The Southwest Gwinnett Chamber recognizes that Education is a vital component of a thriving business community, successful redevelopment, and a superior Quality of Life. Chamber programs will promote the expansion of these critical areas by working with local schools in the tri-city area.
B.E.S.T. – The Chamber will create the B.E.S.T. Initiative (Business Engaging Students and Teachers) to connect local businesses with the elementary and middle schools in Berkeley Lake, Norcross and Peachtree Corners.
Education Opportunity Directory – The Chamber will publish an online directory of volunteer opportunities and a “how to” guide to encourage business support of our local schools.
BUSINESS MARKETING / COMMUNICATION
The Chamber will encourage its members to actively engage other members, as well as the general public, in order to grow their businesses through face-to-face and media connections.
Business Visibility – The Chamber will create a new business marketing kit to help new member businesses become active within the Chamber, including information about the programs available for event sponsorships and email advertising.
Strengthen Ties with Cities – The Chamber will develop programs to provide the city business development departments with programs and materials that will help new businesses get started in the community
